Supporting the next generation of creativity has been a part of our programming for the past Decade of Wonder. Since its introduction in 2015, Intermission has allowed us to share home-grown sounds with Wonderers from around the world on the same stage as international headliners.
Outstanding artists who’ve been a part of Intermission over the years include indie band Rosalyn and Tontrakul, who’s now become a staple in The Fields. Tontrakul has returned to The Fields many years after his debut in Intermission, performing on Creature Stage and introducing his own projects like contemporary T-pop ASIA7 in The Fields. Applications for Intermission 2025 are now closed.
Intermission’s selected artists for 2025
We’re delighted to announce our Intermission finalists for Wonderfruit 2025. At Ziggurat with Singha, these six Thailand-based artists will be performing for the first time in The Fields:
What is Intermission?
Our aim was to create a platform for new talent, supporting rising local talent and introducing them to an international audience. Since the second edition of Wonderfruit, we’ve run Intermission as an inaugural program open to all unsigned artists and bands based in Thailand.
This year, we chose six artists to showcase their sonic expressions and contribute to the soundscape for our milestone tenth edition. Leading up to their debut in The Fields, they’ll also get one-on-one mentorship from renowned producer Howie B. They’ll also be provided equipment, technical support and studio space by Siam Music Yamaha, with opportunities that extend after Wonderfruit 2025 ends.
Getting to know our mentor, Howie B
Celebrated for his collaborations with artists like Björk, U2, Tricky and Siouxsie and the Banshees, Howie B (or Howard Simon Bernstein) has offered Intermission his extensive experience and knowledge of the music industry.
Selected artists will have the chance to work directly with Howie in the studio, refining their sound, getting stage-ready and learning from his professional guidance.
Launching new music cultures beyond The Fields with Yamaha
Siam Music Yamaha’s support of Intermission’s selected artists reach beyond The Fields, providing them the support they need for learning and growth. Not only will artists get access to Yamaha’s spaces and services, but they will also receive additional studio time post-Wonderfruit and a special discount on Yamaha musical equipment.
Intermission’s six featured artists of 2025 will have the chance to plan, arrange and perform their own show—with full creative control—at the Yamaha Digital Audio Creative Center (Y-DACC). Each group or soloist will have their very own opportunity to share their homegrown sound with an audience of up to 100 people, with all equipment and support provided by Siam Music Yamaha.
