Coffee. For a lot of people, it’s an essential part of the day. The first cup in the morning, an afternoon pickup, or a few cups to help fuel a late night dance sesh in Baan Arai. We’ve been drinking the caffeinated elixir for thousands of years, and in that time we as a people have created some very innovative ways to get the most from each smooth bean.
At Moobaan Wonder, our operation is powered by Nespresso—the latest (and greatest) way to enjoy coffee in a snap. The capsule system ensures fresh coffee that is fast, consistent, and delicious.
But the aluminium capsules have created a problem, and not a small one at that. Capsules are recyclable, and spent coffee grounds are compostable, but they’re still finding their way to landfills in large numbers around the world.
So how can we change that?
That’s where you come in.
Nespresso capsules are made from aluminium—the best material to protect the freshness and quality of Nespresso coffee capsules, and a material which is infinitely recyclable. Every single gram of aluminium that goes through the recycling process comes out the other side as a new product, and it can keep repeating that process forever.
Nespresso has been investing in its dedicated recycling scheme for more than 25 years. The infrastructure is there, it’s just up to consumers to use it.
Keep every used Nespresso capsule, and drop it off at one of the thousands of stores worldwide, or request a collection from Nespresso. They’ll take back all your capsules, separate them, and send them to recycling where they are recycled into all kinds of things: car engines, bicycles, computers, soda cans, or even new capsules. Nespresso also reuse the coffee grounds to create nutrient-rich compost or green energy.
On top of their commitment to recycling, Nespresso has been reducing the carbon footprint of every cup. Since 2009, the emissions load of each pod has been reduced by almost 20%. To speed things up, they’ve pledged to ensure that every cup of Nespresso is carbon neutral by 2022. That’s soon.
At Moobaan Wonder, everywhere a cup of coffee is needed, you’ll find Nespresso—and watch where the capsules go. We’re making good use of the Nespresso recycling scheme as part of our 2020 goal to reduce landfill to zero. Nothing is wasted, and the drinkers get all the benefits.
